Terms of Sale
Last updated: October 14, 2026 · Momotako is made by Gustavo Garibay, trading as Decrypt Labs, in California, USA. Questions? [email protected]
The short version
- Buying Expert gets you a license to use it, not ownership of the software. The license is personal, works on 2 Macs, and can be switched off only as our License Agreement explains, for example after a refund or if a key is shared.
- Momotako Expert is coming soon. It isn't on sale yet. These terms apply once it is, and we'll date any change at the top.
- One payment, no subscription: US$59 founding price for the first 250 licenses, then US$89.
- One license works on 2 Macs.
- Paddle is our reseller. Paddle runs the checkout, handles any sales tax, sends your receipt and handles refunds.
- 14-day refund, for any reason. Details are on our refund page.
- Light and Standard stay free.
Who you're buying from
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
That means Paddle sells Expert to you, and Paddle's own buyer terms cover the checkout and payment. We (Gustavo Garibay, trading as Decrypt Labs) make Momotako. We give you the license and the download, and we help with anything about how Momotako works. Your payment card details go to Paddle and never reach us.
What you get
- A license key for Momotako Expert, and the Expert Mac app to download.
- Everything listed for Expert on our home page. That includes dubbing videos on many sites that play video in a standard player in Chrome (the extension tells you on each page whether it can dub there; we've tested Crunchyroll end to end), listening to the Japanese when there are no subtitles, Spanish dubs and the more accurate translator.
- Help by email at [email protected].
Momotako isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Crunchyroll or any other video site.
Check your Mac first
Expert needs a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or newer) and at least 16 GB of memory, macOS 14 or newer, and Google Chrome. It won't run well on 8 GB Macs. You'll need about 35 GB of free disk space to download and install it; it uses about 18 GB once installed. Light is free, so it's a good way to see how Momo runs on your Mac before you buy.
Price and taxes
- The founding price of US$59 is for the first 250 Expert licenses sold through our checkout. After the 250th, the price is US$89. The checkout always shows your price before you pay.
- Prices are in US dollars. Paddle works out any sales tax, VAT or GST the law requires, and the checkout may show your local currency. The checkout always shows the full price, including any tax, before you pay.
- If the price changes later, it doesn't change what you already paid or what your license includes.
Getting Expert
Right after you pay, you'll see your license key, and you'll get an email with the key and your download link. Install the Mac app, add the Expert extension, and enter your key once on each Mac.
Updates
Your license includes the Expert updates we release during the beta. When an update is ready, Momotako tells you, and one click installs it. If we ever offer a paid upgrade, we'll say so clearly before anyone pays for it. You won't have to buy it, and the version you have keeps working (see "License checks" below).
If a licence for one of the AI models inside Expert ends or changes in a way that stops us offering it, we may replace that model or remove the feature in an update. If that leaves Expert working materially worse than described when you bought it, email us within 30 days of that update and we'll have Paddle refund you. Section 4 of our License Agreement has the details.
Two Macs per license
- Your license works on up to 2 Macs at a time. To move it to another Mac, turn it off in Expert's settings on the old Mac, or email us and we'll free up the spot.
- When you enter your key, Expert checks it with momotako.com. After that, Expert works offline, and it checks again now and then when you're online. Our privacy page says exactly what that check sends.
- License checks. Expert keeps working offline between checks. If it can't reach momotako.com for 30 days in a row, it will ask you to go online. It never deletes anything. If we ever stop running the license check, we'll first release an update that removes it, so the version you have keeps working.
- Licenses are for you. Please don't share, sell or post your key. A shared key may be switched off.
Refunds
You have 14 days after you buy to ask for a full refund, for any reason. After a refund, the license key is switched off. Everything else is on our refund page.
Using Expert
Our license agreement explains how you may use Momotako, including the rules that come with the AI models inside Expert. Here's how you agree to it. First, you tick a box at checkout to agree to these Terms of Sale, Refund Policy and License Agreement, including the NetEase Youdao Model Use License Agreement that comes with Expert's listening model; you can't pay without ticking it. Then, when you install Expert and when you enter your key, Expert asks you to agree to the License Agreement before it goes on.
Expert is new
Expert is a beta. The dubbing is made by AI on your Mac, so a line can be misheard, translated a little wrong or spoken a little late. We keep improving it with each update, and we want to hear when something goes wrong.
Everything else
- Changes: we may update these terms. Changes apply to purchases made after the new date at the top. If a change affects a license you already bought, we'll email you first.
- Law: these terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer laws where you live.
- Contact and support: email [email protected]. We usually reply within 2 business days. For a payment, receipt or refund, you can also use the link in your Paddle receipt or visit paddle.net. If you're unhappy with how we handled something, write to us with "Complaint" in the subject and we'll answer within 5 business days.
